Evaluations

Evaluations are a necessary part of determining that the application is matching our users expectations and needs. It is a measure of how well we performed our needs assessment and translated that information into the system design and implementation.

Our early evaluations led to dramatic changes, as we were refining our design and had were testing using paper, which is easy to discard and change. Later in the process, we received feedback from our colleagues in a heuristic evaluation and did a pilot usability study with three of our users.

By testing our design at different stages of development, we were able to create an application that has been well-received by our users. In testing our second-interactive prototype, our users expressed excitement when using the tool, and one commented that the tool was not only powerful but very easy to use. Our design was also presented to CBE's funding partners at the semi-annual meeting, and comments were nothing but positive. If we had not carried out such a rigorous evaluation process, it is likely that we would not have gotten such an overwhelmingly positive response.
